Milltek Sport helps AmD's SEAT Cupra to victory in the Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup!

AmD SEAT Cupra wins Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup: click to enlargeAfter a long 18 race Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup season the AmD SEAT Cupra, featuring a Milltek turbo-back exhaust system, driven by Simon Shaw took a well deserved championship victory with multiple podiums at Snetterton, Norfolk yesterday.

Shaw had already done enough to clinch the Class A title by taking victory in the first race of the weekend. 3rd place in the 2nd race left him needing a 4th place finish to guarantee the overall title.

As the lights flashed to green the AmD powered Cupra surged into the lead from the second row of the grid pursued by a pack of jostling Astra VXR's.

Shaw kept them at bay with a measured performance but a late Safety Car period allowed the field to close up for a final 2 lap thrash.

With Shaw only needing 4th place to secure the title he sensibly allowed Adrian Churchills' Astra through into the lead on the last lap but secured the overall Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup title with a solid 2nd place finish.

"I am thrilled to have taken the 2009 Dunlop Sportmaxx Cup with the AmD SEAT Cupra. The car has been fast and reliable all season. I would like to thank AmD, Mardi Gras, Milltek, Dunlop, KW Suspension and EBC for making the whole season possible", said a jubilant Shaw.

Ryan Bensley, making his debut in AmD's Class B SEAT Leon FR, further hammered home the teams dominance by taking 2 wins and a 2nd place at his local track.

"I would like to thank Dunlop and AmD for giving me this opportunity and am now extra keen to find the budget to step up to this championship in 2010", said an ecstatic Bensley.

"I couldn't be more pleased with how the season has gone. The key to this championship is reliability, as well as speed. We have finished 36 out of 36 races which is a great credit to Mardi Gras Motorsport and AmD", said AmD boss Shaun Hollamby.
